Reading the dashboard

Atmospheric

Current weather and a seven-day outlook from Open-Meteo. Watch the barometer line: a falling glass ahead of a front is usually the best window of the week, and a rising one behind it the slowest.

Hydrological

Provisional discharge from Water Survey of Canada gauges, with the 24-hour trend and where today sits in the station's own 30-day range. Waters without a gauge of their own show the nearest real-time station and the distance to it — a regional signal, not that water's flow.

Thermal

Very few stations in the region carry a thermometer, so the temperature card is almost always a valley-scale proxy. Treat 20 °C as the hoot-owl watch line and carry a stream thermometer — the reading that matters is the one where you're standing.

Wildfire & access

Danger rating, open-fire bans, active fires within 50 km, and any evacuation order or area restriction covering the spot. A restriction that contains your location is a legal closure — confirm on the BCWS bulletin before travelling.

Everything here is provisional and machine-read. Regulations, in-season closures and the written conditions pages stay the authority; this dashboard only tells you what the sensors say right now.
